Science Experiment - Rot or Remain?

Science Experiment - Rot or Remain?

As part of our Material World unit we conducted an experiment to find out which materials are biodegradable.

We placed three different types of material (from various bags) in a container full of moist soil and then observed carefully over many days. We recorded our observations each day. On the last day we emptied the containers and examined each piece of material.

We concluded that plastic bags are not biodegradable but paper and cloth bags are biodegradable!!

Year 4 Grade Mass

Water Of Life was the theme of the Gospel. Jesus met a Samaritan woman at the well and spoke to her asking her for water. She was a woman that Jews didn't speak to but Jesus showed her compassion and didn't judge her. This acceptance from Jesus showed her the love and care we should have for each other.

Year 4 students and their parents participated in many parts of the Mass. We were very proud of all the students and the reverence and enthusiasm they had. Thank you Parents for bringing your children to this Mass and we hope it will be one of many.

Well done children. It was a pleasure to take photos of this special occasion. We hope you enjoy looking at them.

Material World

Material World Experiment
Our science unit is called 'Material World". We are studying many different types of materials, their properties and what they are useful for. Here we did an experiment titled "Soak, Leak or Repel" The outcome was very interesting and a lot of us predicted the outcome. This made us feel like real scientists.

Our Fantastic Pinch And Coil Pots

Our Fantastic Pots

We have learnt how to make pinch pots and coil pots out of clay. Once we kneaded the clay and made it softer, which was a lot of hard work we finally moulded the clay to create our wonderful pots. It was heaps of fun.
